Masjid & Madrasah al-Tawhid is one of the larger mosques in Waltham Forest, with a large and varied community. The Masjid subscribes to the Ahl-e-Hadeeth school of thought. The Masjid urgently requires a learned, dynamic and approachable scholar or student of knowledge to take up the position of Head Imam at the Masjid.

The position will require leading prayers and being at the Masjid from 'Asr till Isha for 6 days a week. The candidate will be required to give the jumu'ah khutbah on alternate weeks, as well as Eid khutbahs. When required, the janazah prayer must be performed, as well as the performance of Nikah Ceremonies. The successful candidate will be fluent in English and Arabic, and knowledge of Urdu or Somali will be useful. 

The candidate must be able to engage with all sections of the community, particularly the youth, and must be highly motivated to spread the true teachings of Islam based on the Qur'an, the authentic Sunnah and the Understanding of the Companions and the Pious Predecessors. He must have a good understanding of current affairs and our position as Muslims in Britain in the 21st Century, and be able to present Islam in this context. He must have demonstrable scholarship of the Sharee'ah, and also the Islamic Sciences such as 'Aqeedah and Hadeeth. The candidate must also be able to counsel members of the community, and advise them on their day-to-day matters as well as more serious issues, including domestic dispute resolution.

The candidate must also be able to work together with the Masjid Management and other staff members in the running of various Masjid services such as the Madrasah, regular classes and events. He must also have experience in interfaith relations, and be able to communicate with and present Islam to non-Muslims in the wider community, and the media when necessary.
